Region I Vice President and President of Boretti Inc James Boretti will be joining us to present Ethics: The Line for Safety Professionals.

Synopsis

This topic will explore the ethical challenges safety professionals face through interactive scenarios and provide insight that will help to better define the gray line of ethics.

Description & Learning Objectives

Every day we are faced with making decisions that challenge our ethics as people, our alignment with our organizations, and our credibility as safety professionals. The conflict between ethical behavior and alignment with the interests of our employers can sometimes become quite challenging. As safety professionals, we need to practice ethics while serving our organization’s needs in protective people, property and environment, all while remaining true to our profession.

Attendees will learn through context and experiential learning opportunities provided through the lecture and interactive activities.

  1. Demonstrate a general understanding of ethics as they conduct their work in the safety profession.
  2. Know how to exercise ethical behavior to professionally manage interdisciplinary relationships.
  3. Utilize ethical behavior practices that adds to the value of our profession without compromise.

James Boretti, Certified Safety Professional

With over 30 years of experience, James has an extensive background in the field of Safety & Health. James is President of Boretti, Inc., a professional SH&E firm providing a broad range of technical and business safety solutions. He has successfully consulted with a wide range of clients and industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, television, construction and agricultural environments. His efforts have resulted in measurable improved operational efficiency and productivity, lowered insurance rates, reduced claims frequency, and OSHA compliance.

James is Past-Regional Vice President of Region I for the American Society of Safety Professionals and a frequent speaker for ASSP. He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a Professional Member of the ASSP, and a member of the ASSP Code of Conduct Committee. He teaches safety courses for the University of California, Irvine, in ergonomics and sustainability / social compliance. James is well versed in ISO and other non-governmental organization (NGO) voluntary and marketplace certifications for safety, environmental, and sustainable operations.
