On December 19th, Curt Whitman of Mustang Safety and Health will be delivering a presentation titled Effective Communication. This meeting will be a joint meeting with the Metropolitan Washington Federal Safety and Health Committee.

The objectives of Effective Communication are to illustrate to safety trainers and those receiving safety training of the pitfalls in human communication. Other objectives include how to recognize communication is or isn’t occurring and how to ensure your safety message is received.

This session illustrates the pitfalls to safety communication. As a safety professional, Curt draws on his experience as a certified fight instructor to show how communication often falls short of our expectations. Using several classroom exercises, Curt illustrates common communication problems in real time. Curt is an accomplished speaker calling on his decades of successful safety management experience.

Opening Remarks and Presentation: 9:30-11:30 AM

Location: Department of Justice at the ATF building: 99 New York Avenue NE, Washington DC and

Metro Access: Directly across from the NoMa Metro. Attendees should access the Florida Avenue exit.

Security Procedures: When entering the building, they will need to go through security and wait for an escort. ATF will have a registration table to set everything up at, as well have an ATF person provide housekeeping and emergency exit information to the group at the beginning of the meeting.
