Apr 09, 2019

Each year, the American Society of Safety Professionals Foundation receives hundreds of applications from around the globe. This year was no exception! We are excited to announce that with your support, the 2019 ASSP Foundation awarded a recordbreaking $402,725 in scholarships and grants.

Congratulations to Kamrie Sarnosky for being named the 2019 Recipient of the National Capital Chapter Janet Sprickman Scholarship courtesy of the American Society of Safety Professionals Foundation. This is a a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by our chapter through the foundation.

“I became interested in environmental health & safety because I grew up in a third generation military family. Service members are a distinguished population with unique environmental exposures during their daily jobs, and I am interested in keeping them as safe and healthy as possible. After graduation, I hope to go into a research position for continuous improvement of mitigating hazardous environmental exposures.”

Kamrie is enrolled in a Doctor of Environmental and Occupational Health program at Texas A&M University.

This scholarship is named after the 1971-72 National Capital Chapter President, Janet H. Sprickman, who was a pioneer in the safety and health field as evidenced by her significant professional career at a time when women were rarely given high level responsibilities or opportunities.
