President: April Dorsey, CHST (Previously Elected)
April R. Dorsey is a Safety Consultant in Washington, D.C. She has a B.S. in Occupational Safety & Health from Columbia Southern University and is a Certified Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
April has spent time developing her career in the construction field as a CAD technician, project coordinator and site safety auditor. Her diverse experience has helped her develop the ability to collaborate with all personnel on a jobsite, from construction executives to new hires. April is passionate about preplanning in design and believes it is necessary for the safety and health of those who work in the field. Her motto as a safety professional is, “be fair, firm and friendly,” and her goal is for those who work in the field to always return home to their families in the same way they came to work.
As a Safety Consultant, she aspires to collaborate with her colleagues to create a safe and healthful environment for all workers. April is an active member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and is currently pursuing an ASP and MBA.
President-Elect: Ashelyn McConnell, ASP
Ashelyn McConnell is the Principal for Safety for a Department of the Navy Acquisition Category ID Major Defense Acquisition Program, employed by American Systems. Ashelyn is currently pursuing her Master of Engineering in Advanced Safety Engineering and Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she is a member of the Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy. Ashelyn holds an Associate Safety Professional certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and is a member of the WISE and Emerging Professionals in Occupational Safety and Health ASSP Common Interest Groups.
Treasurer: Sharon Lipinski
Sharon Lipinski is the Habit SuperHero and CEO of Habit Mastery Consulting (www.habitmasteryconsulting.com), which helps organizations increase their targeted behavior by up to 150%. Her expertise is helping organizations identify the specific behaviors that would improve their health, safety, productivity, communication, and sales and partnering that with strategies to make it happen.
Sharon is a certified Corporate Wellness Specialist, certified CBT for insomnia instructor, speaker, and TV personality. Author of “365 Ways to Live Generously: Simple Habits for a Life That’s Good for You and for Others”, a daily book that helps people create the habits that will get them healthy in body, mind, and spirit.
Founder of the non-profit Change Gangs: Virtual Giving Circles, she helped donate more than $100,000 to great charities around the world. Holder of a Guinness World Record for the Longest Line of Toothbrushes—3.5 miles! This charity event collected 55,000 toothbrushes and 17,000 tubes of toothpaste for Colorado children.

Secretary: Christopher Hughes
Christopher B Hughes is a safety professional with over fifteen years of experience. He has worked in Waste water treatment with Severn Trent Services for Ten years. Covanta Energy in waste to energy generation and with the Montgomery County Transfer station achieving VPP Star re -certification. He has been a consultant for Kiewit IHI construction on the Cove Point import /export Terminal construction project overseeing 5000 craft and 350 support personnel as well as a consult in Nuclear refueling and horizontal storage module construction for Arriva TN Americas for projects around the continental United States. He is currently the Sr Safety Specialist at the Rockville service center overseeing both Pepco/Exelon internal employees and contractors for Montgomery County Maryland and Northwest Washington DC.
He is a member of the ANSI A 92 Committee and is a co-author of the A92.22 safety best practices, and A92.24 training requirements for Aerial lifts and A92.2 Bucket truck design and testing criteria. As well as a voting member of the mina body of A92. He has a bachelor’s in occupational health and safety and currently working on a master’s in occupational health and Safety both from Columbia Southern University. He also holds multiple OSHA certifications including General Industry and Construction trainer certifications. He is a certified General Industry Safety Specialist in General Industry. He is a current member of National Capital Chapter and a past Member of North Jersey American Society of Safety Professionals. Chris received the National Capital Chapter 2019 Safety Professional of Year National award.
Delegate: Wyatt Bradbury, CSP, ASP, CHST, CIT
Wyatt Bradbury serves as a HSE Advisor for Hitachi Rail in Maryland. He has experience in aquatic and recreation risk management, electrical construction, powerline safety, rail safety, and safety consulting. Mr. Bradbury holds CSP, ASP, CHST, and CIT certifications from the BCSP and is pursuing a Master of Engineering in Advanced Safety Engineering and Management from the University of Alabama Birmingham. Wyatt Bradbury is a Past-President for the National Capital Chapter, on the Education and Training Committee under the Council on Regional Affairs, on the planning committee of the Mid-Atlantic Construction Safety Conference, and is a member of the Emerging Professionals Common Interest Group. He regularly travels the country speaking at local and regional professional development conferences and is a frequent contributor to Professional Safety Journal.

Director: Marcus Odorizzi, CSP, ASP
Marcus is a Past-President of the National Capital Chapter of ASSP and has also served as the Chapter’s President-Elect, Delegate, Director, treasurer, and Webmaster. Marcus is also an active supporter of ASSP at the national level and has attended ASSP’s Leadership Conference, the national PDC, SeminarFest, and the Future Safety Leaders Conference.
Marcus is the Safety & Risk Manager for the City of Rockville, Maryland and in this role, he oversees the safety, risk management, and insurance programs for the third largest incorporated city in Maryland. In addition to his role with the City of Rockville, Marcus also serves on the Local Government Insurance Trust’s Risk Management Committee and is on the board of directors for the Maryland Public Risk Management Association.
Marcus was honored as a 2015 Rising Star of Safety (Top 40 under 40) by the National Safety Council and was selected as the Chapter Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) by the National Capital Chapter of ASSP for the 2016-2017 program year. Marcus graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Safety and Environmental Management from the Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and holds the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designations issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
