PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings National Capital Chapter members,

Happy Spring!  We have just a few short months left in our chapter’s operational year, and I hope you have had the opportunity to take advantage of some of the great content coming through our technical sessions.  March’s peer-to-peer lunch and learn was excellent as always, and we discussed some great topics around ISO 45001, Fall Protection Anchorage, and ergonomics and musculoskeletal injuries, among other things.  It’s always a privilege to be in the presence of such great minds at work right here in our community!

I hope you are geared up for the Mid Atlantic Construction Safety Conference!  We are excited to once again be part of this professional development opportunity, and the speaker lineup is incredible.  There is surely something in it for everyone, including technical learning and practical experience, ethical discussions in safety leadership, and even some emergency management.  Plus, there is always the innovative content showcased by our exhibitors.  No matter what your industry, you won’t want to miss this event!  You can register via the link below.

Also in April, OSHA will be opening their doors and we will be hearing from our regulators at the Department of Labor. Details are on the NOVA website (joint meeting) and linked below.

Our May and June meetings are shaping up to be some of the best yet!  In May, Regina McMichael is coming to speak about The Safety Training Ninja (and will have books available for purchase and signing!)  This is also going to serve as our officer installation meeting, and you’ll get a chance to meet next year’s all-star leadership.  In June, we will be touring the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum construction project, which is going to demonstrate some unique safety challenges I think you’ll want to see.

As always, have a safe week, and I’ll see you at the next event!

Matt Law, MPH, CSP, REHS/RS
